Three men rescued from Delaware Bay

From Press staff reports

DELAWARE BAY - A good Samaritan rescued three men Sunday after their small boat overturned in the bay, Coast Guard officials said.

According to a Coast Guard report, the Coast Guard was notified at 10 a.m. that a 21-foot motorized pleasure craft had capsized in the waters between Cape May and Delaware.

But before a Coast Guard boat from Coast Guard Station Fortescue arrived, the operator of a boat called Young Guns collected the men from the water. A helicopter from Coast Guard Station Atlantic City was also called to the scene.

Coast Guard officials said the men were in the water about 10 to 15 minutes.

They were transferred from Young Guns to the 21-foot Coast Guard boat and taken to Bowers Beach in Delaware.

Local emergency crews treated them at the scene for mild hypothermia and they were released, Coast Guard officials said.

The names of the men or their rescuers were not available. The boat was towed from the scene.

Good work Young Guns.. Those guys would have been in trouble if they had been in the water too much longer. That boat was an insurance client of mine. It could have been worse. Glad it ended with no injury to anyone.
