Fished Williamstown again on Thursday (1/12). The rain came in overnight on Wednesday to the tune of about 2" and raised the lake accordingly. Absolutely no trouble with the launch.
The air and water temp ~50 degrees, up from 41 degrees on Tuesday, with the wind out of a westerly direction, much diferent (temperature wise) than Tuesday the same week. The wind was 10 to 15 with gusts, about the same as Tuesday (~20mph).
The hits seemed to come from where the wind met with the calm water, that is, off an island or point of land where there was a union of each. It didn't seem to make a difference what bait was being used, soft craws or cranks, that was the spot where they seemed to attack the offering.
I had to leave about 1pm, an obligation, my wife's birthday with reservations in place, had to make that, and leave while the bite was still on. I'm sure you can relate to that.
Anyway, the day ended up with a mixed bag of Bass (7) crappie, perch and pickerel, 25 plus fish in all.
After that, the trade off didn't seem to be that bad at all.
