What is a good rod that cames in a few pieces. I need to fit it into my bags. Im going to costa rica and its so expensive to check my rod tube now. I suppose i can use the charters rods but i would like to have one on stand by....

Ugly Stick

I have a 4 pc 6'6" Ugly Stick medium. Only costs about $40 at the Army Navy Store up on 130 in Trenton. Comes in plastic case and fits in my duffel bag. Have taken it to Costa Rica 2Xs along with other locations. Just use it for fishing on the beach with the locals and their hand lines. All captains have equipment so this is mostly used to kill time when walking the beach. Action is not bad but I would take some tape (duct) to tape sections together as they tend to slip with a lot of casting.

Thanks for the input. I think ill take the ugly stick route. Dont wanna spend a ton in case it breaks in the plane. What do you catch off the beach down there?
