FYI:

Picked up my Sandy Hook Permit on Tuesday. Still $50 and color of the year is purple.

Hours for the park:

4/1 to 10/31 5:00AM - 10:00PM

11/1 to 3/31 6:00AM - 8:00PM

Also received a paper copy message about the National Saltwater Angler Registry. It reads as follows.

Beginning 1/1/10, Saltwater anglers who fish here at Gateway National Recreation Area are required to be registered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Saltwater Angler Registry.

Where do you get the permit for Sandy Hook. Do I need the basic beach stuff for the truck, as far as tow rope,board etc. Thanks.

Sandy Hook is walk on only, it is not a beach buggy permit, but rather a permit which allows you to park overnight.

The normal hours of operation (without a permit) are legal sunrise to legal sunset, and they do enforce it.

the NPS takes a check (possibly cash) but no credit cards for the permit. Available at the visitor center *or* at the night gate house (24x7).
