Anyone ever have any problems with the line roller not rolling too well?? Ive taken mine apart, cleaned, lubed and reassembled about 3 times and it still doesnt roll when the line is run through it. Its really starting to bother me bc i love this reel but noticed a lot of twisting in the line at the end of last season and am starting to wonder if this was the cuplrit. Any pointers? I know theres some real faithful users of this reel out there. Thanks everyone!

I took mine to Harry's and had it replaced. They cleaned and lubed also for about 25 bucks.

When ever a reel gets knocked down or dropped into the sand you need to rinse the roller off right away I carry small kid size bottle of water with a squirt top with me every time I'm on the beach to wash it out. Don't wait because sand and salt will work its way in and score the race and create problems if its not washed out immediately before retrieving line. I also carry 4 or 5 litre bottle in my wagon to rinse off my reels every time I surf fish. I like the ones with the squirt type cap.

make sure you dont overtighten the screw that holds that together.... ive noticed theres a fine line between loose enough where it can loosen on its own and it being so tight that it just wont spin.... ive had the same problem with many reels.... just clean it really really well then carefully tighten that screw but dont overtighten... at least that worked for me

i think that may have been half the problem. The flat washer was also kinda gunked up a bit. didnt notice that before. its moving better now, not perfect but better. Maybe ill just get a whole new roller setup just to be safe. Thanks guys. This reel and its inner workings are all new to me. A tenant left it at our shore place last summer. From what ive heard and experienced its a great reel.....except for that line twisting problem last summer...so frustrating. Even after i re-spooled it it was still twisted.

What size line is it spooled with?

The only problem I have had with the baitrunner was that the rear drag for the free spool locked up after last season.. easy fix pulled the cover and dropped some oil on the washer and works like new..

spooled with #20 mono. It sort of works now but the line has to be under a good amount of tension (not so sure its rolling too well on the retrieve)

Could this be causing line twist?

Maybe i should just get a new assembly....but i like to tinker too much:D
