I bought a 6000 D, in early October, of '09. The biggest striper I caught, with it, last fall, was a 42 incher. It handled the fish with ease. I believe it would handle a 60 pounder without any problem. I'm not one to "send a boy to do a man's job". They are one tough smooth reel. I also have a thunnus, 12000 and 3500s and a 4500. My favorite for stripers? I'd say it's a close call between the thunnus and the 6000 D.;)

Just bought 2 8000D's. Smooth as silk. I decided on the 8000 over the 6000 since it only weighs about 1.5 oz. more. I'll use it for stripers, but figure it will also help the wife pull up some doormats out at the CM reef.

I just finished spooling my reels with Power Pro. I have the old 4500, the new 6000, and the new 8000 Shimano Baitrunners. The size and line capacities of the new 8000 are exactly the same as the old 4500. The 6000 isn't much smaller than the 8000; the only difference I can notice is that the 6000 is a little over an ounce lighter and has a smaller line capacity.
