If you think the pics of those boats were bad... I was working on a commercial boat at the Lobster House yesterday, and the amount of ice and snow high up on those was insane. Good thing those boats are made for heavy weight.
I was afraid this would happen. Lots of boats I saw over the weekend were in a heavy list do to snow loads. We shoveled off my rig and raised the waterline 6". We have no power so the block heaters are off so I had to winterize. I also had to change a 3/4'' valve on the fly with 32- water poring in after the Genset feed valve broke. I have done this before in the summer that was scarey enough. It was a real treat doing it in the dark with a flashlite in my mouth lying between the Genset and the port tranny.
Luckily, my boat is high and dry on a cradle. I went there today and it was full of snow. Shoveled off all the stuff I could, and the base layer was 2 to 4 inches of SOLID ice. Should be a real beauty by Thursday.
friend of mine went over to south jersey marina last night. All was well that he could see. couple boats were leaning/listing but none turned over or sunk that he could see.
