I gotta support the local guy. I use to go there years ago when I had a 1974 28 Bertram. He was able to get a lot of hard to find engine parts. It was good seeing him again and I am glad he is expanding. I have boycotted West Marine.

Actually

Stan is a nice guy ad I have used him also. He carries very little inventory but will order for you. In fairness to West Marine when you are carrying inventory it will cost more. Just the nature of the business
Like Dr. Mike was explaining that South Jersey Marine Outlet is expanding with a ton more inventory and i am pretty sure the way it was explained to me by Stan was that the only things changing was the size of the store with alot more inventory. Yet his prices wont go up like his competition, Just the nature of the business..... lol

West Marine or any other marine store for that matter doesn’t even compare. I have been buying boat parts, engine components, custom boat lettering, and t shirts from Stans store for 11+ years. I don’t hold stock in his business nor does he mine, but i am a proud spokes person. My wife has purchased hooded sweat shirts with my boats name from Stan and he does the printing in house. And he knows boats, hes not just a paid employee who thinks he knows; several times he lead me to the right part when i was clueless esp at 8-9pm on a fri eve when the family fun counted on the boat and Stans ability to research, and find the correct part. He can get anything in a short period of time. His ability to service and know his customer like family is what will keep him around for years to come!

If it’s a name on your boat, parts or custom t shirts to sport around the dock and your in NJ; I would def go to South Jersey Marine

Just stopped by to check out the store. They are expanding to a new storefront on route 38 next to Sylvan Pools. They have a new catalogue with good discounted prices. It is mostly marine electronics and supplies. Much cheaper than the dreaded West Marine. It will be done April 1,2010. Check out www.southjerseymarineoutlet.com
Mike, you missed the "m' in dot com and the link doesn't work......

But in the 50yrs I've been boating I've never heard of this place.... I always went to Shoreway when I was going by.. He sounds like a Chucky Roseman counter part?? The kind of marine sales place's we need instead of West Marine joints.. Glad to see this type of place making it thru this economy. West could disappear tomorrow and I wouldn't miss it..... Yes, everyone says West Marine is great for those quick things you need, but with a little planning on how/when you buy your boat stuff this time of year you will never need West Marine... I've been buying what I need for this season since last Nov.. Some at Lacey's and some other Barn advertisers when I go by in my travels.

Now that I know I will be stopping in there in my surveying travels..

He should be advertising on the Barn..

I use both stores. SJ Marine is great at finding that hard to find part but many have to be ordered. I like Stan and hes a good guy, but Ive been there on the bad days as well when hes not in the best mood. I like to support that kind of business as well. As far as West Marine goes, they have alot more that you need besides engine parts and that kind of stuff. It really depends what you need. The prices of everything have gone up in recent years, when you see prices go up, its because the manufacturers pricing went up most of the time. I love overhearing poeple at my marina talk hard to find parts and complaining over price and the fact its gotta be ordered.

Just the nature of the business....If you cant hack it, then get out
