I was way up the Egg Harbor river with my brother last nite just before dark looking for bass. We started seeing small areas of water that would bust into a lot of splashing. Anytime we would motor towards one it would stop. One was finally close enough to see what was going on. A big bass would come up to the surface and roll on her side and the males would swarm all over her spewing their stuff. REALLY a wild thing to see. My brother's seen it before up there, but I never had. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen on the water.

Throw out your anchor were you see them and wait quietly and patiently and they will swim right by the boat, sometimes the will jump within a few feet of it.

When they are spawning like that, many times if your running your trolling motor they will come up and wack it. We've even netted fish as they were hitting the trolling motor.

speaking of spewing their stuff- I caught a fish on the Maurice River once that spewed his stuff all over my Grudens. Yuk!
