Iggy sorry to hear about your son and that post.. it truly am deeply sorry...

Is there anything you need or we can do!
I am always up for a fund raiser or something to help a fellow barner out!!

All of this hits me hard and i want to help everyone i can possibly help!

Please let me know as i am sure ron would let us start something here!

Sportfishingusa thanks for your concern about my son Jacob, the reason i get so pissed off when people start to attack the Barn and its Mods is because approximately 3 years ago i made my first post inviting anyone associated with the Barn to come to a Beef and Beer we were having for my son Jacob, not only did some of them attend the event the emails that came from all of these unknown people at the time were amazing, Captains were willing to donate full charters for us to raffle off, we had rods and reels donated, Fred at No bones donated a free rental boat with Bait and tackle for a full day of fishing, Rachael "Mrs Crabbs" spent an entire night forcing Barn members to buy chances for a reel that She and Bob donated and at the end of the night she raised $800.00 for my son, Jason"Margaritiville" ran a raffle that raised $1000 for my son, and there were many others that did things for Jacob, it just pisses me off when people attack the Barn and the Mods that dont make a penny for what they are doing, the Barn has done so much for my son Jacob and for this i am deeply appreciative. We should take the beating on the beach and have all barners and maybe all participants put an extra 5 dollars on top of the registration and that would amount to a nice sum of money for jacob I would be up for it ... Even If we couldn't get the tourament organizers to go with it... I would be up for helping out with whatever
needed

Hey guys thanks for your concern this was not the intent of my post, but for those who dont know my son Jacob he was diagnosed with Epilepsy at 4 months of age and to this day the seizures are a constant battle, due to some complications with his liver last year we are limited to the types of medicine that are available to him so we are now looking into a possible surgery to implant a VNS, which without going into all the medical terminology is a pacemaker for the Brain it gets implanted into the chest area and attaches to the Vegus Nerve which attaches to the Brain, this is apparently the next route for us to try to get seizure control. Below is a testimonial about our son from a place where we take him for his theraphy's

Jacob has been going to A Total Approach for about two years and has come so far. Jacob has Epilepsy as a result from an abnormally formed brain. With this, his development has been very delayed. Knowing early on there would possibly be a delay in language of some sort we did not know what to expect or do. It is true that his speech is the biggest delay along with some fine motor, processing and other delays. We began with one session a week for extra OT time – started the sensory diet to help with the sensory challenges and worked on the strength and fine motor skills. Summer of 2007 it was agreed that Jacob has come so far with his strength that he was ready to join in a group session with two other children to increase his social ability. About the same time we were gearing up for the IEP, I began to feel the strain of "1" more year until main stream schooling and how Jacob's speech was not anywhere close to being ready . We asked what else we could do for Jacob at ATA. I met with Maude and discussed the Tomatis program. As Jacob began to really start verbalizing so much more during the summer this seemed to be the next step to enhance his ability and drive to communicate with his newly found voice. We started in September and are currently in the third loop. Since the start we have seen such a change, he is more attentive, physical, starting to imaginary play (more with each loop) and his words... I cannot keep up with the list as this is just advancing so much. A Total Approach has been the extra enhancement with Jacob and brings together all the efforts from home and preschool that ties us in to have "A Total Approach"!

3 years ago we were able to raise approximately $17,000 for Jacobs medical cost that weren't covered by insurance, at this time we are down to the last $2000 so another benefit of some sort is in the near future, possibly a golf tournament or fishing tourney or maybe even another beef and beer, i will keep everyone in the loop as this developes, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks jim Egolf

GREAT fundraiser

I love the idea of a good fundraiser. You see, in my mind it is good for all those involved.......obviously it is good for whomever the money goes to. For those of us giving, well, we get to help someone out while having a good time and eating good food. It is a win-win situation.

I propose the " First Annual Bass Barn Beefesteak Dinner"!! Now, for those of you who know what a beefsteak is, I am sure you will be in. For those of you that have never heard of one, let me explain!!

There are primarily two companies, both out of north Jersey, that put on these functions. A Beefsteak Dinner is basically a night out were you eat Filet Mignon and drink beer!! What could be better?? Essentially, you arrive at the location of the fundraiser......during the "cocktail hour", your table will have either salad or antipasta on it........when it is time to eat, look out. These two companies take whole filets ( yes, the entire tenderloin) slow cook them on charcoal grills, then the filets are cut to about 1/4 inch slices, the slices are then dipped into drawn butter and placed on a slice of french bread, your waiter comes to the table and drops a tray..........each person at the table will take 3-4 pieces and pass the tray on to the next person. You eat the pieces of filet and wait 3-4, maybe 5-6 minutes untill the next tray arrives!! The beef stops coming when you say you are done!!

Not bad, huh??

Now, to coincide with the Bass Barn dinner, we can have 50/50's and with all our great sponsers I am sure we can have some really great door prizes donated to this very worthy cause. To keep costs down, to increase our profit, I am sure we can talk to a local liquor store to donate a few kegs of beer. In addition, I bet we could get a VFW, American Legion or Firehouse to donate the space!!

For the numbers guys out there, a ticket would probably be $30-$40.......depends on what we can get donated.........that would probably get us a 100% markup.....thats right, for every person who shows up, we could donate $15-$20!! that doesnt even include the 50-50's!!

Lets get some feedback!!

That is an outstanding idea... I am going to look into this immediately and set a date but i got to figure out what day would be the best for everyone around! also what part of NJ would be do this in?! I was thinking like south/central nj which would kind of be good for everyone!

I think we could also have a serious Chinese Auction also and make alot of money from donated prizes for the auction and such!

Those tickets go like mad when you got all nice fishing equip.. sitting up on a table staring you in the eyes!!

Let me know what date and i am ready to book it!!

Glad you liked it!!

Vinny,

The best ones are put on by a company called "Nightengales", not sure of the spelling. Thet are located in clifton.......BUT travel.......they used to cater some parties for my family on LBI and every year they do a few of these in Manahawkin and the area.

I agree with south to central Jersey.

Vinny, if you want, give me a call and we can get the ball in motion!!
