My buddy had an 11' Lamiglass one piece purple with silver wrap custom rod with diawa emblem 4500 stolen from the Seagirt parking area today.
The thief was driving a dark (brown?) jeep with tan soft top. He was described as a white male, mid 30's with long brown hair done in dreadlocks and possibly beads also sporting a goatee.

Has anyone seen this bandit? A police report was filed. This rod cannot be replaced as the blanks are no longer produced. Please watch your equipment guys and also if possible keep an eye out for this piece.

That's why I never take my eyes off my gear. Even when on the beach. If there's a blitz down the beach I won't even go after it if it means I have to leave my stuff behind. Catching bluefish ain't worth losing half my equipment. It's a shame, but you just can't trust people now-a-days.

The worst part is he made the effort to put the rod in his truck and simply forgot to lock his cap. He couldn't reach the fish with his 9' and returned to get the 11' within 15 min. from the time he got there. There was a guy parked near him that witnessed the theft. The witness said the guy just sat in his jeep and waited for him to get far enough away walked to his truck opened the cap and threw it in his truck and drove away. Talk about brass balls. The witness said the the scumbag had alot of rods in the jeep. Wonder how many7 were his?

Probably none. I even go as far as bringing everything onto the beach w/ me. I won't even leave gear in the locked car. My uncle was fishing once and had 3 rods and other various gear in his car as backups. Somebody broke his car window and took all of it. It was well over $700 worth of equipment...

The guy probably didn't want to get involved till the cop questioned him. Who knows what goes on in peoples heads. Maybe he was switching hands at the time.

Most of these dirtbags who steal equipment aren't even fisherman. They are skumbag drug addicts looking for quick cash. I had all my equipment stolen off my boat 2 years ago and have since become extremely security conscious. Lock it up!!

Something doesn't seem right, guy steals rod with witness watching, but witness doesn't get license plate no#. If I was the witness I would of snag him with a Hopkins.

It's a shame and I hope they find the scumbag. Lock it up. I never leave equipment on the boat or in my truck. In some countries if you are caught stealing they chop off your hands.
