I have only fished for stipers once last fall in the rips using live eels. I have a few questions. When is the ideal months to fish for fall stipers? What is the ideal water temp, bait, and tide? I am using 5400 Penn bait runner reels with 20lb. mono on 7ft ugly stick. Am I using the right gear? Sorry for all the questions, but this kid needs some help.

Generally it mid October thru November and the first half of December are prime time, give or take depending on the weather. Generally, they start biting pretty good down there around 65 degrees or so, and we've caught them good down to the low 40's.

Awesome time of the year to surf fish because they're active during the day not just dawn & dusk. Had my two best days in december last year.
