I am planning on getting a steelhead rod myself (though it'll be a spinning rod) for tossing bucktails. I think the extra length will give me a little extra distance to cover a decent amount of bottom. What's odd in that statement is that many fluke are caught in close to the waterline. I just like having the extra reach over the waves, come to think of it.
Targeting Fluke off the surf
Just curious what set-ups everyone use's to catch Fluke from the beach? Curious about the rod length and also lure weight of the rods.
I have caught more Fluke this early fall season, while fishing for bass then ever before. It would be hard for me just to target Fluke when the Bass are around but I'm figuring more towards the summer season.
