I HAVE SEEN MORE NORTHEASTER STORMS IN THE LAST 4 YEARS THAN THE REST OF MY LIFE.EVERY FRIDAY AND SAT. LAST YEAR I E-MAILED 3 OR 4 WEATHER SITES FOR AN EXPLANITION BUT GOT NO RESPONCE.WE GET NO MORE BERMUDA HIGHS THAT LAST MORE THAN A DAY OR TWO.I WOULD GUESS WE ARE AVERAGEING ABOUT 2 TO 3 MPH PER DAY MORE WIND.I REMEMBER WHEN A NE STORM WAS AN EVENT NOW ITS COMMON.JUST PO'ED.IS THERE ANY WEATHER EXPERTS OUT THERE?? IF THE WIND GUAGE DON'T GET TO 40 EACH WEEK I FEEL CHEATED.

And its cold all the time. Looks as though we may see 75+ degrees for a series of days next week, that will feel real good.

I think it may be my fault but be patient. I bought my first boat three years ago and I became rellky active on sites like these. People have been saying that starting about three years ago the winds have just seemed to pick up and blow more than they can ever remember. Now the good news is...I sold my boat. Hoping patterns become more favorable for everyone. :<)

I wanted to call out sick today in the worst way and go fishing but couldn'd because we were short handed at work, it would have been an excellant day for a backwaters striper trip. Now the next two days, my days off, the weathers going to suck even too bad to go back there! But to put things in perspective without work there would be no boat, or anything, so gotta live with it! Im still going to get up early and check the weather, maybe I can sneak out till noon?

As with most things, the weather is cyclical. Rainy, droughts, blowing, calm. The weather experts get a big share of media time because it sells ads and brings in money. Personally, I had more confidence in the "weather man" and his forecasts thirty to forty years ago when overnight and next day info was all we needed. Todays technology allows 10 day guesses, number of named hurricanes, etc. I do not believe them; wasn't it just 2 days ago that this weekend would be beautiful?? As we all should know by now - you gotta take a look up close on-site to make the decision to fish or cut bait. If you want to save some gas, call your contact at the shore and ask what the weather rock looks like. Remember El Neno?? I have not heard the phenomenon mentioned in a long while. Why?? Because it was just a bunch of hot air errr warm water being sold to the world.

A big part of this perceived wind effect is due to our starting the season earlier and ending it much later than in years past and we get irritated with lost days.

As for beach erosion etc, Mother Nature will move the sands of the East Coast from North to South despite all our efforts to replenish the beaches to maintain Shoobie traffic.

Geeze, I need to get out fishing.

I feel everyones pain. It seems like every time I plan a trip, the darn wind is blowing. Im still going tomorrow night to IBSP tomorrw night b/c I will be in that area for work, and the truck is already packed.
Who knows maybe I'll get lucky. I was also planning on going either sat night or early sunday morining on the sod banks behind OC, but that may suck with all of the snot grass due to the wind.
Im a weekend warrior who is pissed, and still havn't gotten my first keeper of the year.

My brother-in-law who is my main fishing partner is a converted freshwater guy. Always hated salt water because all he knew was to go out and troll all day and catch nothing. Well I showed him the ropes when I got my boat and he became addicted. Bottom line - he bought a new boat so I sold mine. I now ride with him. He went smaller since he loves sitting in the back and throwing lures for anything that moves. So I will become a much better skinny water fisherman this year.

Ya hear all the time the Earth's climate is changing. It does seem that the wind is being an increasing nusiance.

When you see the weather hsitories they don't include average wind speed. Would like to see chart of wind speed for last 10 years to see if Jack is right. I think he is.......something has changed.

of course you can look at the bright side that nobody can have at them because of the weather. Thus , giving them a chance to repopulate.
