Hey guys, I'm considering taking the ride down to the SIC/Avalon area on Friday w/ a buddy and fish the Bridge. Now I know how most of you feel about discussing spots, and I'm not asking for exact rocks to stand on, but any info would be greatly appreciated. It's about a 90 minute ride for me and I'd like to go as well informed as possible. Which side is better to fish from? What, if anything, seems to be working in that area lately? Are there any "do's and don't(s)" that I need to know about fishing there? Basic stuff like that. I'll understand if you don't necessarily want to respond here, so feel free to shoot me an email. Again, any help at all would be appreciated! Thanks in advance for any replies/emails :D

cam,
there is really no right or wrong place to fish this area because its a very productive spot at times and other times it can be dead.
Bottom line its one of the major inlets along South Jersey and during the Fall when migrating fish come down the coast they will come inside these inlets especially at night and look for food..
So that being said, explore around. Try the Big Rocks on the AVLN side,go over to the SIC side and fish underneath the bridge and out towards the point.. One certin, if you venture up on the bridge you will get kicked off by the toll taker.. Believe Me I Know First Hand...;)
Try chunkbaits or eels or Bombers and Soft Plastics...

Good Luck,,,

Nice, thanks for the responses so far guys! :D

Oh, one thing. You mentioned that it's good there at night... is it typically bad during the day or about the same as anywhere else?

The herring are working everyday with the birds eating little rainfish, a few snappers are mixed in too.
Bring some shad darts and load up

As for the bass, there are a few being caught
Seven boats out today, I saw one bass caught on chunk, looked like a tweener, but didn't see it released.

A few have been caught on each side with clam, 2 on each side to be exact. Pretty slow

I have been picking up a few tog here and there

Good luck I would like to hear how you did

Yeah, I'll definitely give a report if we go. I'm beginning to think that we may be heading over there earlier than expected if the "night time is the right time" in this location. Hmm, might need to come up w/ a Plan B in that area if TI's a bust. Any ideas? Oh, and keep in mind that we will be on foot, not boat

EDIT: And what do you think the best bet would be night fishing there, eels and blurple bombers?

Hehe, thanks Fishy. Any ideas on a good stretch of beach down there? Like I said, I'm not from the area so I'm not sure what's good and what's not down in CMC. It doesn't have to be in Avalon or SIC. Since I'm already down there I'd drive pretty much anywhere in the county. Thanks!

Any of the backbay bridges or sodbanks will give up bass. In the fall I get most of my bass on plastics (zooms, bass assassin paddle tails, and wildeyes) and plugs. I get some really good bass action on a VERY small bridge in SJ that most people pass by.

Like nightstrikes said, it can break open anytime of day or night, but you should be able to find some action in TI, off the beach, or in the back.

Good luck,

Thanks again for all of the responses guys. Maybe I'll hold off on taking the 90 minutes drive until things are a little better down there. Heck, I can drive 10 minutes to get skunked, don't need to drive 90 :(

See you next week Bern

As for beaches- the high number streets in Sea Isle have been crowded with trucks, don't know if they're catching
Try Stone Harbor Point or find a cut out or gulley on the beach
Good Luck again
