Did you see the crane that is sunk in the sand at the Townsends Inlet Bridge. I was told that the Army Corp of Engineers advised the crane company that the sand was sound enough to drive the crane out there and it sunk.It has completely covered the cab roof of this large crane and it must now be pulled out with another massive crane, if that is possible.

If the Army Corp is giving out that kind of advice imagine what they keep saying to the burrough of Avalon everytime the sand gets sucked out from 8th st thru 21st.
I didnt beleave it intill I saw it this weekend
It will be a nice inshore FAD
See less See more
Toggies will love it!
Problem is, it is right next to those homes that are located there.
from what i understand another crane wont be able to pull it out .they will have to take it apart piece by piece to remove it and they do have to pull it because of the deisle and oil
Didn't the Army Corp of Engineers build the levy system around New Orleans?? Yea...that worked real good.
Don't blame the ACoE...not sure that they were the ones that said OK to drive over there....
I dont see it comin out

It will be removed. Most likely Cashman will charge the ACOE and they will fight it out.

Worst part was it was an additional job, wasn't part of the original contract. The seawall didn't originally have returns that went back that far. That part was already finished and they went back over there.

I see a red F-150 with Mass plates with a Bass Barn sticker working on that job.
I cannot wait until all that equipment is gone...Our radar goes nuts...Know the inlet well and leave in the dark almost every trip, but add fog, night, and the reflections from the cranes and loaders and you get a headache

No doubt they are all arguing over who's going to pay for it before there is an attempt to remove it. I don't think the Borough of Avalon is out of the woods on this one yet. They asked for it to be done... No test borings were done...
I don't know what the heck they all were thinking. That location is not "beachfront". For people who are in that buisness it was completely irresponsible of them all to try to pull that off without a simple test boring.

But not to worry everyone... The diesel feul and oil has all been "contained" ;) ;) as told by the powers that be. And as you can clearly see that boom is doing a wonderful job of keeping anything that "might" seep out from spreading out of the area.

THE LONGER IT SITS WON'T IT KEEP GOING DEEPER???
I've got some great pics of it when it first happened but they are too big for fishpix
They should at least torch the bucket and arm off that beast before some drunken clown leaves the P and fractures his spine in a 3 am display of jungle gym skills...accident waiting to happen leaving that thing intact much into June.
