Gee Bob,

I troll 25's and 30's all the time, actually primarily because that's what I like to use. Never hit the bottom of 58ft of water. How fast were you trolling? I don't use the braid but 30lb mono with a 50lb leader. Never actually hit the bottom with any of them in 40ft of water at a troll of 4.5kts. Braid will pull you 18 more feet down? I'll have to try it.

Jackman,
Not sure what I snagged, never saw anything on the screen. The area does have some rocks though. I was trolling about 1 to 2 knots, lot of line out. The thin braid definitely gets deep. The 20lb easily gets 10 feet deeper then 50lb braid. I run 20 on one rod, 50 on the other. Any time I get inside 40ft I have to shorten the lines because I'm bumping bottom.

Pazman,

Yes, we trolled stretch 25s last Sunday from TI to GE and had non-stop Blues. Had 2 bass but they hit on a blue on white shad umbrella rig. As mentioend above, keep an eye on how much line you have out vs the depth to keep them from dragging the bottom. We used wts on the umbrellas but not on the Manns.

Pazman,
The stretch 25 & 30's are my go to baits when trolling for Stripers, they are also very effective on Blues. You will get down deeper with the braid compared to mono, also out rodders will help. They keep the angle of the line down getting you a few more feet. I have never been able to get them down deeper then 35' without weights. The weights can alter the action of the lure I dont like to use them. Also tie a polomar knot right to the lure without a leader or swivel. I like to troll around 3.5 knots. Got a nice 45" last weekend on a blue and chrome stretch 30. Good luck let us know how you make out.

Paz, The stretch 25/30's seem to run better without drails. The same seems to hold true for bunker spoons, at least in my limited experience.
A lot of guys don't like wire line but if you run at least one wire outfit w/ a bunker spoon I find it's just abt the best for slob bass. Good luck!

When I am trolling spoons, I have one out each side on the outrodders and a stretch 25/30 down the middle on a Penn 4/0 or TLD 15 with heavy mono, usually pretty short. The stretch gets hit ALOT and accounted for the first 42" bass on this boat on our maiden voyage in early June. I am usually trolling up around Sandy hook in 20-45' of water.
