Traveling down to Venice Florida next week for some fishing, but will only have access to a boat one day out of seven. Will be fishing mostly from shore. Is anyone familiar with this area and have any pointers on bridges, jetties, and choice of bait or lures etc. Have heard they have been doing really good on Sheepshead and pompano. Plan on also fishing the beach once or twice depending on what it produces.Any help much appreciated.

N-Man-
love that area of FLA.
Go there every year to visit the in-laws.

I like the North and south Jetty area in Venice- crouded- but there is some action there. You can get live shrimp on the North side right there at the Jetty- but on the South side you can get frozen sand fleas for the Sheeps.

While I was there in Jan, I floated live shrimp with no weight and managed some Jacks. Other guys were ready with small jigs to throw at the schools of Jacks. My 1st toss with the live shrimp had a major run- pulling drag- and I list everything in the rocks. I was not ready for that fish.

Good luck!
