by this time last year we've had hoos busting off hundred dollars of tackle, weve got the warm water inshore like 78-80 degree stuff, and yet ive heard of maybe 2 hoo's caught, anyone have a theory on where these hoos could be? ready to bite into those tasty cigars.

Some IRI and OCMD guys have caught some from the Fingers on out and others have seen them swimming through chunking/chumming slicks. Best I've heard of was 87# OCMD a week or so ago.

I put a few wahoo rigs with steel leaders out and trolled real fast on the way in from the Cigar last week: nothing. I was thinking the same as you, with the warm water inshore it was worth a shot. It does seem although the temp is good, the water itself isnt that deep blue that really brings the better fishing inshore.

We had one free jump about 30 feet behind the boat at Massy's. He riped a squid on a Daisy chain in half, and missed the hook by a couple inches.
