Was it just me or was there little or no action behind Avalon this weekend? Got one throwback and didn't see many others catching anything. Had heard blues were all over the bay and there was other action before. What's the secret?

BACKBAY--WHEN YOU FIND THE SECRET LET ME KNOW.I WAS BEHIND WW.MOST THAT I KNOW CAUGHT NOTHING AND A VERY FEW CAUGHT A COUPLE BUT WHEN YOU SEE FEW POSTS OF CATCHES ITS BECAUSE MOST WON'T REPORT BAD CATCHES,WEATHER OFFSHORE,BAY OR BACKBAY ITS AN EGO THING.THREE DAYS A LOT OF BOATS AROUND AND I NEVER SAW A FISH NETTED.
BACKBAY WELCOME TO THE BARN.THINGS WILL CHANGE I THINK.

I got plenty of blues behind Avalon this weekend. It's a shame to cause I didnt want them. Damn blues...

Donnie, what tide did you get them on and what bait were you using? Near inlet or further back? Just put the new boat in and need to find some fish for the kids to get the hooked

I fished Paddies Hole Friday night and got skunked too much w!!d. Went out Saturday and pretty much the same thing not much happening.

Similar behind SIC Saturday am. Two flounder, a 15.5 and 18 incher to show for the effort, plus one blue. Didn't see too many keepers netted either. Wind was against the tide most of the morning and we didn't cover much ground.

I fished for fluke on Sat.' from 12-4 pm, all incoming tide, between the free bridge and all the way up to daymark 406. Only caught one keeper, 17", thin! He took both my top and bottom hooks, squid and minnow, so he must have been really hungry. Got just enough meat off for two for dinner. No other bites; couldn't even lose bait. However, stopped into Smuggler's Cove and they have a picture of a 10pound, 14 oz. fluke caught on May 12, "somewhere behind Avalon".

Pittsbugh, maybe.

Sounds like the fish took the weekend off. At least it just wasn't me. I was everywhere from sat evening tp Sunday mid day. Hopefully they'll be biting this weekend

Fished the ICW in Cape May Sunday from 8-2. Did not catch a single flattie nor did I see a flattie caught all day. Must be a little early- I hope. Didn't have a very good drift, we were barely moving.

I got them both on the incoming and outgoing. But once the tide started to ebb really good the weeds showed up and shut the fishing down. I was useing rubber...and I was way back in the creek.

i guess its a good thing we had motor trouble saturday. We were set to go and took the ride down and the moror wouldnt run right so we didnt risk going out to paddies i was mad but now im not wondering if the fish were nailed. i still managed to catch a blue off the dock but after that i went home. i did have a great day the next day in in GB so it well made up for it.

we were out friday morning behind avalon and SIC and had one short and one blue. The fog was so thick at townsends, that we really couldn't make it across til noon. tried a lot of good spots but it was hard to tell cause there was a lot of grass. only flattie caught was in 11 ft of water. didn't see anyone else even catch anything but the water temp was at like 69 degrees so its just a matter of time

fished avalon back bay all over- one flattie- couldn't get too far up creek- missed tide by then. a friend had suggested I come down cause action was good. nice weather anyway.

Saw 4-5 weakies up to 12 pounds, a fluke to 10+. Plenty of blues, too many actually. The fishing is still spotty, that's all. Give it time.

We fished Avalon on Friday and had shad off and on all day and about a 30 to 45 min blue fish blitz at the ebb of the afternoon high tide.

There were a lot of blues from the beach in TI/bayside......2-3 lbs. alot of fun in my opinion.....white paddle tails.

If you find them you will be the first! I fished from Avalon to SH on Sunday and managed 1 blue and 2 flounder. Had water temps up to 71 in some spots...if they were there they had lockjaw!
