is it a good idea to stay at the dock when the wind is against the tide, or is it possible to get lucky once in a while? because today behind holgate was terrible fishing yet the rips were all set up perfectly!

You have a couple of choices in that area. There are several rips that you can drift at different tides and wind conditions. You could anchor and chunk. One thing iv'e tried is to use my drift anchor and let the tide pull you along, you have to be careful in the inlet and keep it on a short leash ther's alot of traffic out there and it can limit your maneuverability (spelling?). I've done it when the traffic is light never on a weekend.

last week I had a decent day with the stiff westerly on the incoming. When the tide went slack I caught my best yet of the season, a 21 lber near the 110.
