Public Meeting on Winter Flounder July 15

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection?s Division of Fish and Wildlife will host a public meeting regarding the ASMFC?s recently released Draft Amendment 1 to the Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Inshore Stocks of Winter Flounder. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 15 at the Goodwill Hose Company Station, 610 7th Avenue in Belmar, Monmouth County. Public meetings are also scheduled for Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York.
The draft amendment document includes revised fishery management plan objectives and stock rebuilding goals. It also includes a description of habitat needs, and recreational and commercial management measures.
Copies of the document can be obtained via the ASMFC?s website at www.asmfc.org under Breaking News or by calling 202-289-6400.
