Mono to braid conversion
I don't know that there is a direct formula, however. I would think a simple approach would be to get the mono's dia. and the braid's diameter. Figure out what percentage the braid's dia is OF the mono's dia. Pound test doesn't even enter into this, it's all about dia. and the resultant change in volume. When you get the % differance, that means the the quoted mono capacity will be that percentage of what the spool will hold with braid.
For example;
Mono diameter = .025"
Braid diameter = .0125"
mono spool capacity = 100 yds
the braids diameter is 50% of the mono's diameter, therefore, the spools mono capacity is 50% of what it will actualy hold in braid. Hence, the spool will hold 200 yds of braid.
So, take the mono's diameter and divide it by the braids diameter and multiply the "quoted, spools capacity with mono" by the number you just came up with.
For example;
.025"/.0125" = 2 , 100yds mono X 2 = 200yds of braid
Another example;
.012"/.008" = 1.5 , 100 yds mono X 1.5 = 150yds of braid
Again, remember, it has nothing to do with pound test, it's all about volume.
This will definetly work, hope it answers your question. :thumbsup:
