Lake conditions yesterday despite NOAA's forecast. Ran to the usual spot at 2am w/ 4:30 arrival, set up on some nice structure w/ good marks. Within 2 minutes and only 1 rod out so far, we have our first of 8 BFT's on the line! Nice 40lb'r that we tailed and released. That was the story for the next 3 hours...nothing from 7:30 till around 9 despite the extra heavy chumming we were doing, tried jigging but nada. 9am the deep rod goes off and a 1/2hr later we have a fat 55" on the deck! An hour after that and we have another one at least that size if not an inch or two bigger boatside. That one came in much faster thanks to the new Canyon Reels EX16 (Don the reels are awesome!!!). I had to mention this because I have only bought 2 of these and we have made a ton of BFT and Canyon trips this year, caught an uncountless amount of tuna this year but never on the rods with the Canyon Reels until yesterday! Super smooth and smoked the Penn 30 that we caught the other fish on. 10 minutes after the last fish we decide to pull the hook and head home. Just as we are in the process, either a great white or biggest mako we've ever seen launches out of the water! Could be from the 3 flats of sardines we chunked in a short amount of time...? Awesome site! Lots of whales and dolphin on the way back along with acres of skippies and alberts!
