Three broken Vertebrate have left my 2006 fall Striper season in serious jeopardy. I'm going to be living through the Barn until I can drag myself out without any damage, around 12 weeks or so, hopefully.

Details are still sketchy Capt. Blacked out for some unknown reason and woke up on the couch in ungodly pain. 6 days in the hospital and the whole slew of tests have not revielled anything. Feeling a little better everyday though and I plan on pushing myself in Physical therapy the best I can in hopes it will get me on the water a bit sooner.

Figures cause I just got done working on my boat and installing some upgrades, Bang no boat for you!!!:(. Could have been worse I guess, like paralysis.

I know the feeling I once broke two! Coulpe of days in the hospital, funny little chest brace. Right when it happened, I can recall I was in so much pain, yet so happy every thing was moving. Take it slow now, when I did mine I was young and couldn't sit still, so it took alittle longer. Make sure you drink plenty of water the next couple of days too! Hope you feel better, good luck.

Bob, best of luck to ya! I feel for ya, recoverying from lower lumbar spinal fusion myself. Until you've had back trouble, you don't realize that every movement causes pain. You'll get better and the bass will be bigger when you do:)

Ohh Boy, we're dropping like flies!!!!

Fall season is not what it use to be, May and June is where it's at. There is always next season. Listen to the doctors and therapist, and hopefully you will be back in the game.

I use to fish with a guy who had to hand his rod off when he hooked a big one. Take me, I'd be glad to bring in your big ones Bob. :p

Thanks for the words guy's. I think my biggest fear is a lifelong battle with chronic back pain from the injury. That will make for some interesting boating:D
I live with constant back pain, and am a firm believer in "better living through modern chemistry"...;) as for the boating it'll take time to see what your back will endure... good luck and recover soon...

I had a pretty good first half of the year with the stripers, so if things don't pan out for me I guess I'll be able to live with it. Hell there's always surf fishing, just need to figure out a way to get the bait out there.

"Modern Chemistry" is walking hand and hand with me down the road of recovery. Looks to be a new best friend for a while.:D

Hey Re-Bait, with your boat woes and my back we should be able to come up with some kind of deal.;)

Bob, I feel your pain, especially at this time of year.
I hope the P.T. and happy pills help you thru this for a full and speedy recovery. Listen to the DR. , if he says do nothing, do it twice, just to play it safe. Best regards.

Ive sold two kayaks to paralysed people in wheelchairs. Youll figure something out. You might need a helper but you can do it sitting down. There are a couple of good spots along the river you can fish out of a nice comfy folding chair.
Good luck!

All I've been doing is thinking about the spots I can get to and fish from. Beach, bank or light-duty boating I'm in for a try. If it were the spring I'd have it made cause of my location. The way I see it is, as long as the boat floats off the trailer nice I'm good to go cause on a nice calm day the LE and clams can make for some very enjoyable fishing;).

I just saw this. Real sorry to hear this. Who is going to fill in for our weekly radio broadcasts from LE Inlet? A healthy recovery is more important than one fall striper season, so don;t overdue the therapy or try to come back to soon.

I will keep you posted on the fish I am catching that your are missing out on:D
